The Hunger Games

Ever heard of it? Probably not. But if you're a close friend of mine, you probably heard me blah about it for some time. I read the book about 5 days ago. No exaggerating but, I finished the book in two days. My head practically exploded.
The story is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen, who lives in post-apocalyptic America, which is called Panem in the book. Panen has 12 districts which specialize in one product. For example, District 12 (the district which Katniss lives in) mines for coal. And every year, they have an event called the Hunger Games. One girl and one boy (aged 12 - 18) from each district is randomly chosen to battle each other in an arena. Only one will become the victor.

It has, not only action, but romance too. There are also cheesy bits, but it is presented in a realistic way. But in this book, I was so inspired at how the characters would do anything for their loved one. Whether it is unconditional or not. The main character can somehow give me courage because she is so brave and bold in the way that she stands up for her family.
The story has action scenes that make your heart beat faster. I just kept turning pages that I didn't realize that I was halfway through the book.
It is easy to get attached to the characters too. Especially Peeta. Oh my gosh. I can't wait for the third book. :(
