i think i found the ONE
I've been around, up and under. Hurt, battered and forgotten. Yet these experiences brought me up to what I became to be. I've been thinking, for the past few months. Loving the wrong person, so i thought. Yet, he was and is my bestfriend now. We're tight, i guess? Anyways, my point is that. I finaly found the right one ATM (at the moment). I'm proud to have him proud to love and care for him. I don't care if people call him names, telling me that he is not for me? Who are you people? You have no right to tell me who to love and who to care for! Yeah, sure he is not that good looking, yeah? so what?! He's the one I love, what do you care? As long as he cares for me too and loves me for who I am and not for what I have. That's reasonable right? He understands me more than anyone, well except my Family && Friends. =)) So, please.. Think first before you judge because I HATE IT when people judge others on how they LOOK. It's pathetic. I LOVE HIM and HE LOVES ME, for all that matters. Yet, I know my priorities. STUDIES first. Yes, I know. Finaly an inspiration and NOT distraction. Right? Oh well, I guess that's it for the mean time.

Impasse.
I was just thinking. Just thinking- new concepts for my future stories. Then I came to an impasse that has been haunting me ever since. A brick wall- that question I couldn't seem to answer myself.
"Who would you choose," I asked my protagonist, Mac (taken from Mackenzie), as I tried to make a layout for my new story, "Secrets". She tapped her fingers one after the other on the little coffee table between us.
"You see, you only have two choices, and let me elaborate, just to make things clear. Will was someone you've known since birth. You have almost everything in common, yet there are things that he knows that you don't and vice-versa. Perfectly normal. The feeling developed over time.
Then, just a few weeks ago, Alex came along to replace your boss, the president of the law firm you've been working for for the past five years. At the wink of an eye, just like that, you fall for him. You feel weak at the knees when he's near, and feel strong yet empty when he's away. You don't know much about him, and it seems you two have almost nothing in common. He intrigues you as he thinks he is misunderstood, and masochistically, you stay, even after you learn that he may never-"
"I don't know,"she said. "I think, maybe, it's best if I wait,"
"What if you wait too long, and nothing happens?"
"I suppose I'll know when the right time comes for me to leave,"
"They all said that Mac. And now, a lot are secretly dying because of that one bold statement. So, what will you do next?" I said, trying to hide any facial expression to show her how worried I was, how afraid I was of the consequences of whatever choice she made next, for her sake, of course. Then she grinned. The slightest move of her lips mesmerized me, yet caught my attention by the neck.
"You're the writer, you tell me," she walked away. I haven't seen her for a while now.
And that's what brought me to the impasse. I couldn't seem to bash it, go through it, jump over it, or simply walk away from it. Because if I do, then I'll forget, sooner or later where it is.
I need the answer.

The Brave One

How many wrongs does it take to make it right?
I just saw this movie two days ago and it reminded me of the chills that can run down my spine. It's amazing to see Jodie Foster having this kind of "I am Legend" aura, dressing as an average New Yorker during the day, and going vigilante at night. Her acting was phenomenal. Her eyes.. well, there were countless scenes wherein her eyes would lack that shine, it's like she could control it. As Shakespeare said "The eyes are the windows to the soul,"- this is the perfect example. You could tell that she really knew what Erica Bain was like, inside-out. I give her a ten out of ten and an Academy Award if possible.
As for the story, though, it was standard. It was good, yes. But it wasn't something that I haven't seen before. To be honest, I've created a handful of stories like that myself. (I haven't written them, but I shared them with a few friends.) After reading a handful of reviews from www.imdb.com, I have to agree that Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard's chemistry and acting, not to mention Neil Jordan's direction, saved it from being a B-movie.
The direction was great. The drama built to quite a breath-taking climax, and a bittersweet resolution. And now, I'm going to watch it again.
First Snow.
Amidst the chaos and disorder, a peaceful day,
Where children are carefree and happily play.
Where husbands and wives set out and dance,
Even the heartbroken and their bad romance.
Giving gifts with a smile full of glee, and
Decorating the evergreen Christmas tree.
Watch the kids rip away the papery wrap,
I swear, after this is done, you'd want a nap!
Another significance is the birth of Christ,
Greet him as well, it's completely advised.
Say hello to Christ, and everyone you know,
For tomorrow comes the day of first snow.
I just wish that actually made sense :D
Merry Christmas everyone!

Cold Case Vacation
Let's just say I am having the coldest vacation ever and it's all because of the TV series Cold Case. More than the chess-like clue me in stories, it's those soundtrack you hear in each episode. Simply the best1
9th Day!
Today is last day of simbang gabi. And for me, today's lesson had the strongest message.
"It all started when somebody spoke of goodness and someone listened and had faith". These words chill me as much as those cold winds that blow every morning. We should all speak of the goodness of God and not of hatred and things that can destroy others.
That's why I love blogs. :)
It's Christmas Eve! Spread the joy and love to other people!

7th Day!
First of all, the person that I wanted for Christmas is back! He came home yesterday morning. Now, my Christmas is all complete. <3
Today is the 7th Day. We were late again. I woke up at 3, which was too early so I went back to sleep. I woke up at 4:15 (which was 15 minutes before the mass started). At church, I saw Ms. Dinah with Alna, but I don't think she saw me.
Today's lesson was all about thanking God for everything he has given us. Even if bad things happen, somehow, there is always a brighter side.
Happy Birthday Chris!!!

6th Day!
:( almost didnt wake up for the mass! I was late -_-
Oh well.. atleast we got there for the first reading. Our priest :O is so shocking. He told us a love story. A boy fell in love and he was "torpe" but he was able to ask the girl out. It ended as: "This boy went to a seminary and became a priest, even a parish priest." He was talking about himself!

5th Day!
wow.. that seemed pretty fast! 4 more days to go. Today, I didnt get putobumbong. :(
I just got home and the sun is still rising, which means we were pretty early today.
Today, I was really annoyed. The people at my back kept on talking. A phone even rang. How disrespectful and distracting. But the thing that made me really annoyed is that when we were singing "Ama Namin", this tomboy (who was part of the group I was annoyed with) started changing the lyrics. I didn't catch what she said but I know it was waaaay off the original lyrics of the song.

Preparing My Soldier
Just finished my chess training my soldier. We are actually getting ready for the 1st MISAA Chess Tournament scheduled on January 15, 2009. So far, there are only 2 schools joining the tournament so it will most likely be a Dual Meet.
Hopefully the long Christmas break will not push my players chess skills down the bottom of their heads and come back to school after the break rusty with their chess skills.
Anyways, I had fun with my student today, him being witty with all his ideas and crazy with his chess thinking.
Am about to go home now and e' me warn you, Aguinaldo Hi-way of Cavite is too much for the unprepared: TRAFFIC!
Bye!

3rd day!
I'm typing this as the sun rises from my right, making the sky look like it's on flames. I got home early today, since the homily was only 5 minutes long. Although it was short, it is still pretty meaningful. I have a cousin named Emmanuel. The priest said it meant, God is with us.
God bless you all :) -- Im going back to sleep.

She nervously smiles as he approaches her. She doesn't know what to do. Her heart beats the same rhythm as the beats that he previously played. It is a good thing it wasn't that loud, or everyone will hear. Or worse, he'll hear it. Their laughs echo in the solid hall. Now their hearts beat the same rhythm. But this isn't right. This is not what she intended.

2nd Day!
Back from today's simbang gabi. Its the second day! And this time I bought my putobumbong. yummieee.
It was alot colder today. But it was easier to concentrate on what the priest was saying. He was funny. But he taught me a couple of lessons behind those jokes. :)
Today is Talent Show! Good luck to those performing and make sure you have fun.

Change
Originally performed by Michael Jackson, Man In The Mirror is given a different rendition by our very own, Filipino Madrigal Singers.
Man In The Mirror
Songwriters: Ballard, Glen; Garrett, Siedah;
Ooh ooh ooh aah
Gotta make a change
For once in my life
It's gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right
As I turned up the collar on
A favorite winter coat
This wind is blowin' my mind
I see the kids in the street
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind
Pretending not to see their needs
A summer's disregard
A broken bottle top
And a one man's soul
They follow each other
On the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change, yey
Na na na, na na na, na na na na oh ho
I've been a victim of
A selfish kinda love
It's time that I realize
There are some with no home
Not a nickel to loan
Could it be really pretending that they're not alone
A willow deeply scarred
Somebody's broken heart
And a washed out dream
(Washed out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that change
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah)
I'm asking him to change his ways, yeah
(Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
You gotta get it right, while you got the time
'Cause when you close your heart
(You can't close your, your mind)
Then you close your mind
(That man, that man, that man)
(That man, that man, that man)
(With the man in the mirror, oh yeah)
(That man you know, that man you know)
(That man you know, that man you know)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Change)
No message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself then make that change
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
Ooh
Oh yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(Na na na, na na na, na na na na)
Oh no
Oh no, I'm gonna make a change
It's gonna feel real good
Sure mon
(Change)
Just lift yourself
You know, you got to stop it yourself
(Yeah)
Oh
Make that change
(I gotta make that change today, oh)
(Man in the mirror)
You got to, you got to not let yourself, brother oh
Yeah
You know that
(Make that change)
(I gotta make that make me then make)
You got, you got to move
Sure mon, sure mon
You got to
(Stand up, stand up, stand up)
Make that change
Stand up and lift yourself, now
(Man in the mirror)
Make that change
(Gonna make that change, sure mon)
(Man in the mirror)
You know it, you know it, you know it, you know

Simbang Gabi
Here we go again! The cold winds, the tolling of bells, the night sky, the murmurs of people and most of all, the smell of puto-bumbong.
I completed last year's nine days of simbang gabi. I go in the morning because Im afraid I'll fall asleep when I go to the 9 pm mass.
So, last night I was afraid to fall asleep because I didnt know what time the mass was starting. But I fell asleep, without any alarms to wake me up in the morning. This morning, I just opened my eyes and start to panic. I see the church's cross illuminate the night sky. I thought they already started. I ran to my brother and started hitting his foot until he woke up. In the end, he wasn't the one who accompanied me to church. I went with my tita, and my two neighbors. We were there on time (4:30 am).
During the Gospel, a car started to smoke up so everyone ran inside. I couldnt hear what the priest was saying. But I did catch a few things.
You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?
Oh well, off to prepare for school!

Psyched Up
I have finally decided to go back to school and take another master's course. I've been wanting to get that MA in Psychology after I finished my academics in my master's in special education. Wanting something badly is one but having the resources to have what one wants is another story.
Well, I'm all psyched up!

Dreams and Screams
I wanted to become a journalist but I ended up becoming a teacher with a background in occupational therapy and masters in special education. I have worked as a storyteller, puppeteer, occupational therapist, resource speaker for special needs, consultant, chess coach, reading facilitator, judge for storytelling/oral declamation contests the past 8 years.
Now you hopefully know Paulo Coelho right?
Somehow his writings have helped me become who the person I am now. His life, works and beliefs have become a source of inspiration. I hope you pick up any of his books and try to read them and reflect on what he means and what it means to your life.
Anyways, this caught my attention:

If only we can live our lives this way....
"In an interview, Coelho stated "[In 1986], I was very happy in the things I was doing. I was doing something that gave me food and water -- to use the metaphor in The Alchemist, I was working, I had a person who I loved, I had money, but I was not fulfilling my dream. My dream was, and still is, to be a writer."[10] Coelho would leave his lucrative career as a songwriter and pursue writing full-time."
Ra ra ra ah ah, ro ma ra ma ma, Ga ga ooh lala.
Lady Gaga. What words work best to describe her? Phenomenal? Unique? Artistic?
Whatever the case, she has the grand honor of being the Artist of the Month for me! That's right! I'm going to type up a post every month of an artist I am currently fan boying over to. And this month, the spotlight goes to Lady Gaga!
Her full name is Stefanie Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and her birthday is on March 28. And just to clarify, SHE IS NOT A HERMAPHRODITE. SO STOP ASKING.
Now, my rundown of the five best songs she has released. And boy are they seriously awesome!
5. Speechless

Isn't she a doll? This song is dedicated to her father, who underwent open heart surgery some time ago. Isn't it sweet? It also talks about your lover leaving you, a la a one night stand or something.
4. Paparazzi

Papa-paparazzi. Excuse me. Got a bit into the zone there. Anyway, this talks about never ending dedication to the one you love. I think. Anyway, the artistic element in this video is top class!
3. Telephone ft. Beyonce

I couldn't find a better photo, but anyway...
A grand collaboration of Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce. What could be better? About escaping the fame and all that just to dance on the dance floor ;)
2. Bad Romance

Hey, it's my post's title! Anyway, Bad Romance. The first single off her mini album The Fame Monster. Talks about having a bad romance, if it wasn't obvious enough.
1. Poker Face

Why wouldn't the best single and most downloaded song in UK history be on my list? Thought Just Dance was the first single off her first album The Fame, it was Poker Face that shot her to stardom. And who would blame her? It's one of the most danceable, most robotic, and most artistic song of the decade!
Well, hope you guys enjoyed that! And remember, Lady Gaga is watching you! Just kidding!
Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and hope you guys enjoyed the Artist of the Month, who is subsequently the Artist of the Decade in my book!

I gots a proposition for ya!
How about, if anyone is in the mood, that the picture for the blog not be permanent? As in, anyone can change the picture depending on their mood! Like for example, I'm happy. I put a picture of something that makes me happy for the day. And we can do this any time, so the variety of pictures out there are endless! So, what do you guys say?

Sweeney Todd
Man!! Tonight really proved to me that I had spent the best 500 pesos of a lifetime. (Disregarding the three booklets I bought and the gum that I snuck inside the GB theatre.
I didn't actually know what to expect from Repertory Philippines' production of Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, knowing how Hollywood reminded us of the classic. Since it was a night show, RP placed their best actors: Audie Gemora (I saw him in The Sound of Music in 2006 as Captain von Trapp) and Menchu Yulo (Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof) as the lead roles.
Don't even get me started on the set. WHOA!!! and a bunch of other expressions could be heard from the audience every time something was moved. For the first 20 minutes of the second act, and maybe the rest of the show, I concentrated on the chair Todd used to send his victims to the Baking Room without carrying them down the stairs where everyone could see. Needless to say I was at awe (if that's even grammatically correct), when some type of trap door opened, the chair became a part of some slide and whoever the victim was honestly slid.
Now THAT is called a set. As for the acting, the lead actors were excellent, and I preferred Mrs. Lovett's mood swings and catch phrases on scene. But Lucy (the beggar who turned out to be Sweeney Todd's wife who went all coockoo) was outstanding and unforgettable, which is exactly every stage performers goal.
I wouldn't want to miss out the fact that the conductor was actually Gerald Salonga, Lea's brother.
To conclude, first, I wish they'd show this in CCP. Second, this is probably Repertory Philippines at one of its finest peaks, knowing there had been even better shows before I was born. This is how a musical should be on stage. A standard that would hopefully be maintained or improved by the generations to come..
I have to sleep now. I hope you like my first entry.. This is Glen O, thepersona, signing off.

Free Burma!
When I was in 6th Grade, we presented the King and I as our annual Christmas play. I played as the lady from Burma, named Tuptim. She was given as a gift to the king of Siam. I could say she lived well. She ate 3 times a day, wore comfortable clothes and slept on a proper bed. But, she lived in misery. She left her lover in Burma. He was the prince of Burma. In a way, she was treated as a prisoner. She didn't have any freedom.
Today, Burma is also known as Myanmar. It is home to 50 million people. These people are governed by the military junta. According to www.wikipedia.org, it is "one of the world's most repressive and abusive regimes". Media is strictly controlled by the government. People are forced to work and if they don't they may be killed, raped or tortured. This is just a part of a bigger list of forms of oppression.

Immaculate Concepcion
Philippine's Patron is no other than Mother Mary with her title Immaculate Concepcion!
Yesterday was the Feast Day of The Immaculate Concepcion and it was really nice to see the church full of people praying and celebrating the Eucharist.

Kamag-Anakan Incorporated
With the May 2010 Elections barely 5 months away and the circus-like campaign we Filipinos are in for worst ever time in our lives.
Just what is KAI?
Simple as this: Your great, great grandfather was the baranggay Chieftain for so many years in your baranggay. Then his eldest son received this title because of the good deeds his dad has done. When it's time to move on, this chieftain passed on the role to one of his children.
Interestingly, their constituents kept on voting for them.
Present time.
You'll be very familiar with their family names, their exploits, scandals, embarassing under the table deals exposed, scams and what have you's.
Still, people vote for the name.
What the hell is wrong with us Filipinos?

Maguindanao Martial Law
Martial Law in Maguindanao was declared last Saturday, December 5, 2009. I was watching this Kiddie Show with my kids when the news flashed on the screen. I wasn't surprised nor scared with the simple logic behind the move: Maguindanao is an ARMM which meant, they have all the autonomy in that area. And as such, only the military can at least provide the necessary evil to control all the demons roaming the political machinery there.
FVR say "Arroyo repeating Marco mistakes". And I wasn't surprised at all when the cops encountered loyalist believed to be of the Ampatuans.

Christmas Bandwagon
December 17 is the day when MGIS will have it's Talent Show. This is the 4th time our school provides everyone interested to show and share their talents in the community.
Because of this, I will go out of my hybernation mode tomorrow and go to Mr. M's place together with the gang, Ricky, Sherwin, Renan and Gary to rehearse at least three songs. As always, I will be hiding behind the strings, Ricky will sing, Gary and Renan will alternate on the skins and Sherwin on the bass. We will have a guest singer courtesy of Ricky's crazy idea.
Anyways, wish we'll have a great time tomorrow.

It's almost Christmas. again. She realizes this as the cold wind blows against her face. She types the words "its getting cold" innocently, not knowing that anyone would care. After a few seconds of oblivion, a message pops out. "Need a jacket?"
Right now, I really feel like sleeping. But because Im talking to the two people that make me happy now-a-days, I'll stay awake.

Buying a DSLR Camera
Lately I'm haunted by the fact that I chose to help 2 significant people in my life rather than buy my very own DSLR camera after I arrived from Morocco. Haunted because somehow I think I should have been more selfish but honestly I'm happy I helped them.
BUT I wish had more money to buy my DSLR camera, my brand new car and 20 chess clocks.
Oh well!

No To Blasphemy
To my fellow bloggers and readers,
Let us all be a good instrument of good and peace. Do not allow this blog to be an avenue for blasphemy to any religion or God. I had to delete the latest post which showed an drawing of Jesus Christ that's bald and in a thin state.
Slifer, be careful!
We have this tolerance to our own uniqueness and everyone in this planet. we have this freedom to choose or not choose any faith or belief in God and thats fine. But I will not allow anyone to blaspheme Jesus Christ or any perceived God of any religion.
We're clear about this.
Keep on blogging in a free world!
