A little girl - who is not so little anymore,
hiding under her big black blanket.
She is not afraid
of the dark shadows around her
- or the scary boogie man
under her bed
- or the unknowns
from the outside of her window
- or the creepy crawlies on the floor.
It's the sounds again.
coming from the other room.
the shouts of frustration -
the crying and sobbing -
from the voices of such monsters,
that used to be so loving.
